I found on the internet a self-training manual for the TFSI 1.2 and 1.4 engines (which are in Spanish). First of all, I loved this document and teaches in a very interesting way the many features and systems the TFSI engine has, and confirmed to me that the TFSI and TSI engines are pretty much the same engine.
The current EA888 3G engine is even more elaborate compared to both the current EA211 1.4 TSI engines and their EA111 1.4 TSI predecessors. AVL = Audi Valve Lift, just to mention one feature. The only thing which isn't available on the EA888 is ACT/COD. If you never heard of these, then don't beef about it. EA211 1.4 TSI Engine Problems and Reliability. Compare to EA111 1.4 TSI, the new engine eliminated its main shortcomings. The stretching out timing chain was deleted and replaced with timing belt made for entire engine lifespan (that is VW’s official statement). Now, the engine is able to warm up in a cold weather. The reliability issues are on the old engines (the old 1.4T 122bhp and the 1.4 twin charge engines) The modern 1.4 tsi is belt driven and so far has been reliable. The engines are a nice balanced
