Yeah, the Free Trial is locked to the specific system. Registering for the PC version means you can’t do the PS4 one with the same account. And if you’ve got the Standard Edition, you can’t play the Free Trial with the same account (I’m saying “with the same account” because you could, in theory, create a new SQEX account and signup for the Free Trial with it. Example: If your SE account has two service accounts, Final Fantasy XIV 1 and 2 Final Fantasy XIV 1 has a Steam code, characters "Cat Down" & "All Paws" Final Fantasy XIV 2 has a PS4 code, characters "All Fleas" & "Abandon Cat" So I can log in with both 'Cat Down' and 'All Fleas' at the same time. But not 'All Fleas' and 'Abandon Cat'.-----
The game servers are cross-platform. The only thing to transfer is stuff like HUD Layout, Hotbars, Gear Sets, etc. This is normally saved locally, but can be uploaded in any platform to the server on the character select screen. Stuff like story progress, job levels, etc. are all server side already. There is no "save" to transfer for these.

When it finishes and I start it up, the launcher updates and it starts to play some music when I get the message "Cannot launch Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. Just do the password reset then log in with the laptop. SE has very good compromise deterrent measures in place that monitor people's patterns. If you've logged in from 1 mac address for two months solid, then try from another, you get the password notification.
